On the first day of the Community Change Institute, we'll be hosting a Tool Share process. Learners have the chance to sign up to explore a set of 3 practical tools designed to build your capacity as a changemaker. Not only will you learn how to apply these 3 tools, but you'll also have access to our entire Community Change Institute tool library. We want to give you all of the tools and resources you need to make a real impact in your community.
Want to share your expertise? We welcome you to apply to share your own tool as part of this session. Successful applicants will receive a free registration to the event.
.Below are some of the tools we're currently expecting to showcase as part of the Tool Share process. More information will be added closer to the event.
The early phases of a collaborative effort are often focused internally on developing the leadership team, connecting with the community about the issue and developing the common agenda and strategies for moving forward. A journey map is a great tool for collaborative groups to both articulate and track their progress through the early phases
Collaborative efforts often cycle through different phases including brainstorming ideas, early development of the collaborative and the ideas, getting to results and eventually shifting, changing, and adapting. Each collaborative phase is dynamic but also contains traps. Learn how to effectively navigate the collaborative the collaboration cycle.
When we speak about engagement, it is important to note that there are varying levels of engagement and that each level generates different responses from those who are being engaged.
When designing engagement efforts considerable thought is given to who needs to participate and how to design a process that is accessible. Similar forethought should be given to considering the best way to frame the question we are seeking input on. This tool considers the perspectives of various stakeholders to develop a meaningful question that encourages creativity and the generation of win-win solutions.
A data walk is a powerful process for engaging diverse stakeholders in a shared sense-making process around data. Created by The Urban Institute, Data Walks are an interactive way of sharing data and research with stakeholders.
Consensus decision making is a creative and dynamic way of reaching agreement between all members of a collaborative group. Instead of simply voting for an item and having most of the group getting their way, a group using consensus is committed to finding solutions that everyone actively supports, or at least can live with. Learn how to effectively build an approach to consensus decision making.
Asking questions which evoke deep commitment and engagement is challenging. We don’t take the time to consider the art of developing agendas and asking questions that are powerful, build connection and evoke deep commitment. Learn how to ask better questions in this session.
Implementing strategies that deliver change through the Six Lenses Strategy Tool will ensure that the strategy resonates with multiple audiences. When thinking of products, services, or programs, we can use these different lenses as a tool for positive change.
