AGENDA

9:30 a.m. Arrival

Meet and greet with coffee and tea

10 a.m.-12 p.m. Workshop: Asset-Based Community Development and Climate

Places hold knowledge, skills, resources and relationships. We believe that by helping communities discover, connect and activate their assets, residents can take a more active role in what they want for their community, to advance climate action and move towards the deep societal transformation needed to future-proof our communities.

In this workshop, you will learn about:

    • Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD)
    • how ABCD can be applied to climate work in community
    • how to engage residents in mapping their physical, natural, community and individual assets as well as GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions sources, adaptation and mitigation opportunities,
    • how to identify risks and vulnerabilities

Applying an ABCD lens to climate work in community will offer meaningful engagement of residents and will community-led and -owned solutions which are more likely to be socially accepted and long lasting.

12 p.m.-2 p.m. Lunch and networking

Enjoy connecting with other Tamarack members, partners and change makers over a delicious vegetarian lunch.

2 p.m.-4 p.m. Conversation on the role of Belonging in communities

Join us for a conversation on the role of Belonging in our communities, for well-being, quality of life, for climate and local economies. We'll talk about the importance of social connection and our Pan-Canadian Strategy for Belonging.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Astrid : astrid@tamarackcommunity.ca.

This event is part of a series of conversations to amplify the movement for a Strategy for Belonging that centres everyone's perspectives on the quality of life in communities and advances belonging as a policy outcome.
