Building our Skills to tell our Impact Stories
As changemakers, we are constantly asked to demonstrate the difference our work is making. Whether the goal is to celebrate success, communicate progress, sustain momentum, inspire action, build public will, strengthen relationships, or attract funding, stories are often the most powerful way to bring impact to life. Yet many people struggle to translate complex initiatives, collaborative efforts, and systems change work into narratives that resonate with different audiences.
This interactive workshop will help you to develop clear, compelling stories that communicate impact with purpose. Together, we will identify which elements of the story matter most, clarify who needs to hear them, and determine the outcomes those stories are intended to achieve. Learn the key ingredients of effective storytelling and practice using three practical story frameworks designed for different types of change—from program-level successes to emerging opportunities and community-wide systems transformation.
Through examples, discussion, and hands-on exercises, participants will leave with tools and templates they can immediately adapt for reports, presentations, funding proposals, community engagement, and communications campaigns.
