Build Your Capacity to Define, Measure and Act on Change

The success of participatory evaluation acknowledges relationship dynamics as central to the process. How, when, and who is involved in evaluation practices  are  important, and evidence strongly  suggests that there is greater learning and adoption of evaluation processes and findings when they include the community in the designing and planning, implementation and reporting stages of this type of work.

Community leaders, funders, community organizations, changemakers and other stakeholders are asking for stakeholder-involved evaluation design, and this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and tools to support your decision-making processes when it comes to thinking about what you will need to bring participatory evaluation practices into your community change work.

What will Registrants Learn?

What is participatory evaluation?

We will take you through a guided reflection on what evaluation is, the different types of participatory evaluation, and what it means at the level of community-based work. You will then use a mapping tool to identify your stakeholders and their role in your evaluation strategy. Participants will learn how participatory evaluation supports strategic learning and how your practices affect your outcomes. Finally, you will go through the five steps of a participatory evaluation process and learn how to build powerful evaluation questions, strong indicators and how to communicate your impact.

Self-reflection on existing evaluation practices

We will share a tool that will assist you in gaining better insight into your existing evaluation experience.

Exploring approaches and methods to doing participatory evaluation

Together, we will journey through the participatory evaluation landscape and learn about various approaches, methods and tools that can contribute to your evaluation experience.

Bringing it all together

 • We will walk through a mapping process to show how key decisions can be made when planning participatory evaluation. •  Putting criteria and principles into action – Identify criteria and principles that apply to your work •  Choosing the right approach and methods – Understand how to select the appropriate approach and methods. •  Planning together – Use the evaluation canvas to support you through the design of your next evaluation process.
