About the workshop

Evaluation is a key component of engaging in changemaking work. Through different evaluation techniques, we can determine what a community most needs in order to move forward in a good way; analyse the impacts that our projects, initiatives, directivities, programs or policies are having; and, tell the stories that need to be shared to inspire, empower, catalyse change and sustain your initiatives. This workshop, led by Dr. Chúk Odenigbo (PhD), Consulting Director of Impact Evaluation, offers participants an introduction to evaluation. We will be going over what evaluation is, the basic steps to conducting an evaluation, learnings on community engagement and how to ensure that when we do this work, we centre equity.  

 

Language

The workshop will be conducted in English; however, the slides will be bilingual, all activities will be prepared in English and French.

 The presenter is also bilingual in English and French and would be happy to receive questions in either official language.  

Workshop Pre-Learning

None. This is an introductory workshop. You may come with no background in evaluation.  

3.5 Hour Virtual Workshops

Participants will be given an overview of evaluations – what they are, how to conduct them, how to engage community when doing an evaluation and ways in which they can ensure that their evaluations centre equity and the well-being of those who take part.

  • Are looking to get started with evaluating impact of their community work

  • Are already doing evaluation work but would like to build a stronger foundation in evaluation 

  • Are noticing a lack of engagement when doing evaluation and looking to strategizes how to increase participation 

  • Are from diverse communities but are not engaging the full diversity of their community

Chúk Odenigbo

Dr. Chúk Odenigbo (PhD) is the Consulting Director of Impact Evaluation at the Tamarack Institute Learning Centre. Proudly Franco-Albertan, Chúk is passionate about the ways in which the environment impacts human health and the role of justice in our understanding of how our societies function. As a result of this passion, Chúk is very active in changemaking spaces in both Canada and at an international scale. His educational background centres the domains of environment science, chemistry, public health and medical geography. His career has focused on environmental and climate justice and outside formal work settings, he is involved in several boards, committees, conferences and movements to reimagine and recreate societal structures and systems for the well-being of all of our kind, human and non-human.

Registration for this session is now open and limited to 70 learners to ensure a dynamic learning experience. Participants will be sent log-in details for the virtual workshop. All participants will receive an email to register for a follow-up coaching session one month after the event. At this interactive session, small groups of workshop participants will be encouraged to share their emerging questions and receive further support in translating the workshop’s learning into action.
