Vibrant Communities Canada

Coaching Program for VCC-CRP Members

Description

Vibrant Communities Canada (VCC)’s commitment to fostering and advancing a Pan-Canadian learning community on poverty reduction includes offering a subsidized coaching program that supports members to build capacities, attend learning events, and access key resources. Coaching is the delivery of short term, consultation supports to a local community planning table. We are offering this support to poverty reduction initiatives who belong to the Cities Reducing Poverty network.

How does coaching work?

  • Full members* of the Cities Reducing Poverty network have access to up to $1,000 matching dollars from Vibrant Communities Canada to put towards coaching.

  • Coaching support can be delivered via phone, email or in-person.

  • Total coaching fees will be negotiated between the VCC member initiative and their desired coach, and may include costs related to time, travel, lodging and other expenses.

  • Coaches will invoice the VCC member directly for 100% of their coaching costs, and VCC will reimburse the member initiative by cheque for 50% of that cost, up to a maximum of $1,000.

  • VCC member initiatives who access coaching will be asked to report back on their experience and results (i.e. through stories and blogs that can be posted on the VCC website), to help us refine and deliver the best coaching program possible, and to support peer coaches in developing their portfolios.

What supports are available?

  • Training and Capacity Building: Coaches provide a custom learning experience tailored to your community’s own learning aspirations.

  • Facilitation and Presentations: Coaches facilitate roundtable meetings, key planning processes, or make presentations at local learning events.

  • Tamarack Learning events: Costs are matched by VCC at 50% towards registration fees for the 2017 Poverty Summit, or towards another Tamarack one- or multi-day event.

  • Resources: Costs are matched by VCC at 50% towards the purchase of up to 30 copies of TEN: A Guide for Cities Reducing Poverty, or towards the purchase of academic research (i.e. academic journal subscription).
